3 Day Alice Springs to Adelaide Bus Tour

Summary

"This trip takes the scenic route from Alice Springs to Adelaide along the Stuart Highway via Coober Pedy and the Flinders Ranges. Includes overnight stops at the opal township of Coober Pedy and Stony Creek."

Itinerary

Note: The itinerary published below is the Adelaide to Alice Springs trip. The Alice Springs to Adelaide itinerary is similar but in reverse.

Day 1

With an early start, we head north through the one of Australia's oldest wine regions, the Clare Valley. We enter the Southern Flinders Ranges and after lunch hike Dutchman's Stern for stunning views of the Spencer Gulf and surrounding ranges and plains. Tonight we camp amongst the red gum trees of Stony Creek.

Day 2

After breakfast we head to Coober Pedy, home to 80% of the world's opal and a unique landscape featured in the movie "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome". On arrival we take a tour of a mine and check out some of the town's unique underground attractions. Tonight we sleep like the locals – underground, in bunkhouse accommodation at the Umoona Opal Mine.

Day 3

We depart at sunrise, with a detour to see the amazing colours of the Breakaways. Incredible changing landscape, kangaroos, emus, eagles, road trains and enough stops to keep you happy along the way. Settle in as we cruise to our destination, arriving around 6pm.
