Wed - Darwin to Litchfield to Kakadu

Today see the waterfalls of Litchfield National Park before heading to the spectacular Mary River Wetlands, home to a vast array of bird life. This afternoon look for ‘crocs’ and other abundant wildlife on our private river cruise. Arrive at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge for dinner and overnight camp.

Thu - Kakadu

Our first stop is Ubirr where we discover ancient Aboriginal rock art and climb to enjoy picturesque views. We continue on to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), where we hike to the plunge pools for a refreshing dip. Stay overnight at our permanent camp within Kakadu National Park. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Fri - Kakadu to Darwin

Ghan Rail TrainThis morning we 4WD into the awesome Jim Jim Falls, hiking to the base of the falls then continue on to Twin Falls. Here we join a National Park operated boat and boardwalk experience up the stunning gorge to the waterfall and sandy bank. In the afternoon we return to Darwin, enjoying the impressive scenery along the way. Overnight Darwin (Breakfast, Lunch)

Sat - Darwin to Katherine to Alice Springs

Morning at leisure, before departing Darwin at 9 am by train (GHAN) to Alice Springs.

Seating: Ghan - Day Night seat

Arrive into Katherine at approx 1 pm. (Optional “off train tours” available including Katherine Gorge and Mataranka Thermal Pool).
Depart Katherine at 4.45 pm.

Sun - Arrive Alice Springs

Arrive Alice Springs at 11.15 am and transfer (oneself) to your chosen accommodation.

Mon - Alice Springs to Ayers Rock

Departing Alice Springs at approximately 6.30am, we travel south through the picturesque James and Waterhouse Ranges, stopping at the Outback Camel Farm where you can enjoy a short camel ride. Heading westward we view the striking Atila (Mt. Connor) and the saltpans.

On arrival at Ayers Rock Resort, approximately 1.00pm, we have lunch at our permanent safari camp. This afternoon we travel to the majestic Kata Tjuta (Olgas) with a hike through the "Valley of the Winds". We return in time to view the sunset over Uluru. Return to our camp for a traditional Aussie meal. Sleep on camp beds in tents with linen supplied.

Tue - Ayers Rock to Kings Canyon

Ayers Rock – Kings Canyon This morning you can see the sunrise on the Rock before tackling the challenge of the climb. Uluru (Ayers Rock) is 348 metres above the desert floor. The climb is 1.6 km, but even if you decide not to climb, the surrounding landscape is spectacular. This is followed by a base tour exploring ancient caves where Aboriginal paintings, eroded rock faces and unusual rock formations can be seen.

Return to Ayers Rock Resort where time is allowed for an optional 30 minute scenic flight over the Uluru/Kata Tjuta (Ayers Rock/Olgas) at own expense. After lunch we depart for Kings Creek Station, a working cattle/camel station and our overnight camp. A range of optional activities is available here. Tonight is an excellent night to swap yarns around the campfire under the beautiful star filled skies of Central Australia while enjoying a hearty bush dinner cooked over a crackling fire. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Wed - Kings Canyon to Alice Springs

Kings Canyon – Alice Springs An early rise to travel out to Kings Canyon a geological jewel nestled at the western end of the George Gill Ranges. We spend the next 4 hours exploring the canyon. View the "Amphitheatre", "the Lost City", the striking north and south walls and the beautiful "Garden of Eden". Return to Kings Creek Station for lunch before returning to Alice Springs travelling through sand dunes and majestic desert oaks country.
Overnight: Alice Springs.

Thu - Alice Springs to Adelaide

Morning at leisure.
Depart Alice Springs at 12:45pm by train (GHAN) to Adelaide

Fri - Arrive Adelaide

Arrive Adelaide at 1.10 pm and transfer (oneself) to your chosen accommodation.

Sat - Barossa Valley Day Tour

Ghan Rail Barossa ValleyToday join a full day tour to the The Barossa Valley with its Bavarian villages, baroque Italienate Chateaux . Breathe in the beauty of the Adelaide Hills in the leafy greenness of the quaint yet charming villages, so close yet so removed from the city bustle of Adelaide. The German settlement of Hahndorf evokes sounds, tastes and smells of Bavaria. Tour departs at 9.30 am, returns at 5.50 pm.
