Itinerary
Day 1 - Litchfield National Park
An early start and well worth the effort. Highlights today will include the Magnetic Termite Mounds, the magnificent falls of Tolmer, Florence and Wangi and the truly beautiful Buley Rockhole. Enjoy lunch and a swim at Wangi Falls, before continuing to Katherine via Adelaide River. Lunch is provided at Monsoon Cafe, Litchfield Tourist Precinct. Arrive in Katherine at approximately 5.30pm.
Day 2 - Katherine and Mataranka
Depart your accommodation at approximately 8.00-8.15am for a spectacular 2 hour Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge cruise. After your cruise, travel to Springvale Homestead for lunch and marvel at the splendour of the oldest standing homestead in the Territory. After lunch, visit the Katherine Hot Springs for a refreshing swim, then tour the township of Katherine taking in the local attractions including the Katherine Museum and other places of interest around the town. Arrive back at your accommodation at approximately 5.00pm.
Day 3 - Kakadu National Park
Depart Katherine at 7.30am for an exciting 2 days in Kakadu National Park. You will approach via the southern entrance via Pine Creek and Mary River. Next is Gunlom-Waterfall Creek (or similar), a deep permanent pool fringed by pandanus palms and high cliffs. Have lunch and a swim there before travelling to Cooinda, home of Yellow Water cruises. Enjoy the variety of birds, wildlife and crocodiles on a sunset cruise. Overnight at your choice of accommodation at Cooinda, either Gagudju Lodge or the Safari Camp.
Day 4 - Kakadu National Park
Depart Cooinda at 7.00am for Nourlangie Rock, just magic at this time of the morning. Today will create long lasting memories of Kakadu for you, including Bowali Visitor Centre, Ubirr, Border Store, East Alligator River and so much more. Arrive back in Darwin at approximately 5.30pm.
