Itinerary

Australia - Darwin - Kakadu

Day 1 - Darwin to Point Stuart

Leaving Darwin we head south to the magical Litchfield National Park to experience stunning waterfalls which flow year round. Visit Florence Falls where there is a chance to walk through rainforest or swim in the plunge pool below. Experience the natural spa at Buley Rockhole and take a refreshing swim at Wangi Falls. You will also discover the impressive termite mounds which are scattered throughout the park. This afternoon's highlight is the Pudakul Cultural Experience where you will meet some of the local Aboriginal people and learn about their culture, bush tucker, art and craft. We overnight at our safari accommodation at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge. (LD)

Day 2 - Point Stuart to Kakadu

Kakadu National Park is World Heritage listed for its natural features and houses the world's oldest living culture. We journey deep into Kakadu National Park with a chance for a swim this morning. For the adventurous, put your hiking shoes on and head to the top of Gunlom Falls where you will be rewarded with stunning views over Kakadu and amazing clear pools. For those who prefer a more relaxed stroll, the base of the waterfall provides the opportunity to swim, surrounded by paperbark trees and the cliff face. Gain a further insight into the Aboriginal culture at the Warradjan Cultural Centre where you can read some of the dreamtime stories. Get ready for some 4WD action as we head into Twin Falls. Access to the falls is via a short boat trip and walk over rocks to relax on the beach surrounded by spectacular sandstone cliff faces. Our safari accommodation tonight is in the heart of Kakadu. (BLD)

Day 3 - Kakadu to Darwin

We start the day wandering through the ancient rock art galleries at Ubirr before climbing up the rocks to a lookout with 360 degree views over the floodplains and Kakadu wetlands. Relax aboard a three hour boat cruise on Corroboree Billabong where you will experience the extremely photogenic life on the billabong including birdlife, water lilies and saltwater crocodiles. On our return journey to Darwin there is a chance to learn more about the wetlands ecosystem with a stop at the Windows in the Wetlands Information Centre. (BL)
