Itinerary
The Trip
Day 1: Our tour starts when we pick you up from your hostel in Adelaide at 10:00am and drive towards Kangaroo Island via the Fleurieu Peninsula where there is great swimming, snorkelling, walks and fantastic coastal views. During winter and cooler days we have heaps of other options, including whale watching at Victor Harbour, wine tasting at McLaren Vale and hiking in Deep Creek Conservation Park.
We arrive at Cape Jervis and jump on our own charter boat (weather permitting) and actively search for dolphins as we cross the Backstairs Passage to the island. We then make our way to our private bush camp (summer) or eco hut (winter) located on private coastal property and literally only 30 metres from the beautiful Ante Chamber Bay Beach. Our site is equipped with showers, toilets and a campfire.
Day 2: Our day of action, wildlife and wilderness includes sand boarding at Little Sahara (like snowboarding on sand), surfing and snorkelling at Vivonne Bay and optional quad biking around the bush at sunset. We also visit Seal Bay, where we get up close to the Sea Lions on the beach walk. The night is spent around the campfire at our exclusive bush camp near Vivonne Bay (or the farm house in winter). After cooking an Aussie BBQ feast we take a nocturnal walk and see those animals active at night, including penguins, wallabies and possums.
Day 3: We head for a busy day in the Flinders Chase National Park, the largest on the island. Depending on the conditions we can choose the magnificent Ravine Des Casoars or a selection of shorter hikes. We also visit the famous Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Flinders Chase is home to the elusive platypus, vast tracts of untamed wilderness and heaps of other wildlife, which we'll do our best to see lots of. From Flinders Chase we make our way back to Penneshaw and return back into Adelaide at approximately 9:30pm.
Wildlife commitment
All guides are committed to finding as much native wildlife as they can in the 3 days, and then providing you with a wealth of information. We see all wildlife in the wild and are one of the few tours that can take you on a private beach walk at Seal Bay instead of a ranger-guided tour. Expect to see Kangaroo, Wallabies, Australian Sea Lions, New Zealand Fur Seals, Platypus, Echidnas, Southern Right Whales (in season), Koalas, Dolphins, Brush Tailed Possums, Penguins, Goannas (in season), Cockatoos and lots more. Wildlife activities include nocturnal walks, wild penguin viewing on a remote beach (not a penguin parade) and platypus viewing at black swamp lagoon.

Bush Camping (01 Nov – 30 Apr)
From the 1st of Nov to the 30th of April, all 3 day tours are bush camps. We have a variety of places to camp on the island, both by the beach and in the bush, we sleep in comfy swags under the stars (a swag is like a bed roll, it is a thick mattress inside a large canvas bag, you put your sleeping bag inside the swag and throw your swag next to the campfire, your body is covered and your head is exposed, falling asleep looking at Australia's southern sky full of stars is an amazing experience. We have permanent shelters in case of rain and bad weather, although sunshine and clear sky are the norm for this time of year.
Accommodation (01 May – 31 Oct)
From the 1st of May to the 31st of October, our 3 day tour stays in the Wilderness Cottage. Our private stone wilderness cottage is located on a 500 acre bush property at Vivone Bay on the South West coast of the island, it borders Cape Kersaint Conservation Park and has access to private coast and beaches. The cottage has bunks in 2 rooms, a kitchen, common area with large open fire, an outdoor campfire and BBQ area and shower and toilet. It’s cosy and warm in the winter, cool in the summer and whole property supports an abundance of Native Wildlife.
