ITINERARY

King George Beach-Kangaroo IslandPick-up from your Adelaide hotel (must be pre-booked), or depart Adelaide Central Bus Station, 85 Franklin Street, at 6.45am. Travel through the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis and board your SeaLink ferry for the 45 minute crossing to Kangaroo Island (KI). On arrival, settle back in the comfort of your luxury SeaLink coach and let the scenery slide past on your way to Seal Bay where you will enjoy a guided beach tour among a breeding colony of Australian sea-lions. This really is the experience of a lifetime. Bring your camera!

After a two-course lunch at the Vivonne Bay Eco Adventures Bistro, you will be treated to an educational and interactive Birds of Prey 'Free-Flight' Presentation. Witness raptor birds such as eagles, hawks and falcons fly freely and touch owls and try having a kookaburra land on your (gloved) hand!

After this, we head down to Flinders Chase National Park, internationally renowned as a sanctuary for a host of native Australian animals - kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, goannas and more. Walk along the rugged southern coastline (on specially constructed walkways to protect both you and the environment) to Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch. Remarkable Rocks provides a spectacular backdrop for the creative photographer. Admiral's Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to confront a spectacular rock arch and a nursery haven for New Zealand fur seals. Watch the fur seals diving, playing or just lolling about on the sun-drenched rocks, warming up again after swimming in the surf.

Your Kangaroo Island Highlights experience comes to a conclusion at the airport or ferry terminal for your return journey back to Adelaide.

WHERE IS IT

Located 126kms south of Adelaide in South Australia is one of Australia's finest nature based destinations and best kept secrets (110kms road trip from Adelaide to Cape Jervis and 16kms ferry trip from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island).

Kangaroo Island is surrounded by magnificent, pristine beaches and with a third of the Island National park, it is a treasure trove of unspoilt wilderness areas teeming with fauna and flora seldom found elsewhere

CLOTHING & WEATHER

Kangaroo Island enjoys a more temperate climate than the mainland. Summers are a little milder with cool evenings and winters often a little warmer. From March to June, the weather is often spectacular with long, balmy days and calm seas. Be sure to take warm clothing in the winter months of June through to September. At any time however, comfortable, casual clothing is the order of the day. Evening dining in any of the Island's restaurants or bistros is a relaxed experience so neat, casual clothing is very acceptable. If you plan to do some walking, take some boots or sturdy shoes and at all times, hats and sunscreen are recommended. Other than that, bring plenty of film and a sense of adventure. Feel free to leave your worries and stress on the mainland - everyone else has!

FITNESS

A reasonable degree of fitness is required to enjoy some attractions and some of the marked and unmarked bush trails. Attractions such as Seal Bay, Admiral's Arch and Remarkable Rocks now feature walking tracks and boardwalks to protect both you and the fragile ecosystems. This makes them more accessible than they used to be, so fear not!
