Depart Darwin and travel along the Arnhem Highway, passing major river systems and wetland regions, into Kakadu National Park. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre to view the informative displays depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu. Join your local guide on a cruise of Yellow Water Billabong Cruise. Search for saltwater crocodiles and the colourful range of birdlife for which this region is renowned. After lunch, stop at Nourlangie, where your Driver Guide will lead you on a walk to view the rock art galleries.

Add-on a 50 minute scenic flight over Arnhem Land Escarpment.

Experiencing Kakadu from the air gives you a true sense of the vastness of this amazing landscape. Between June & November, this fabulous scenic flight takes you out over Arnhem Land and Dinosaur Valley, following the rugged escarpment along the boundary of Kakadu National Park. It passes ancient Nourlangie and Lightning Dreaming, the beautiful savannah woodlands, South Alligator River, deep-water billabongs and floodplains. Between December & May, you'll fly over breathtaking Jim Jim and Twin Falls.

This morning stop at Ubirr with a short walk to view Aboriginal rock art. Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River in search of saltwater crocodiles. You'll have an Aboriginal guide with you and with the special permission of the local people, you'll be able to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit Bowali Visitor Centre before returning to Darwin.

Follow the Stuart Highway to Litchfield National Park. View Florence Falls before making your way down the stairs to the plunge pool below with an opportunity to swim. Visit Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole below. Venture to Wangi Falls for another opportunity for a swim. You'll stop for a picnic lunch. A great day also for taking many interesting photos, including the amazing stand of termite mounds. Return to Darwin, arriving early evening, where your short break concludes.

Fitness requirement

Low to moderate level of fitness required:

  • Kakadu: Nourlangie Rock is a 1.5km walk around the base. The walk has built in steps along the path
  • Ubirr walk is slightly uneven around the base but quite steep on the way to lookout.
  • Litchfield: Florence Falls - 160 step staircase down to swimming area, or there is a viewing platform at top of the falls if you do not wish to swim. 
  • Tolmer Falls - is a flat walk of 15mins each way.
  • Wangi Falls - is an easy walk from the carpark.


  • Note: Sun/Wed departures departures operate in reverse.
  • In April & November to March if weather conditions preclude access to the East Alligator region, alternative touring will be arranged on day 2.
  • Child ( under 15 Yr) and Concession rates are applicable on request. Concession rate is for only Australian and New-zealand Concession card holders. 
  • As this Short Break departs at 6.20am, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for the previous night.
